A not-kid-friendly book trailer for Michael Ian Black’s new kids’ picture book, _The Purple Kangaroo_. Yeah, I know, seems weird, but it’s kinda funny + inappropriate … poor Peter Brown (the book’s illustrator + “co-star” of the video).

… no surprise, Neil Gaiman. Maybe I should rename this blog “Can’t Get Enough of Neil Gaiman” or something along those lines. How about “Obsessed Much About Neil Gaiman? Me Too!”? My apologies if you’ve had enough of my Mr. Gaiman posts. Perhaps you could suggest another author I should obsess about instead?
Anyway, I will be at his UCLAlive event on...

Neil Gaiman + Arthur + Comics = Can't Miss!
According to Neil Gaiman’s blog (toward the end of the post) ::
It’s probably still a secret, but what the hell, it cheered me up today and I will tell you: I’m going to be in an upcoming episode of ARTHUR. Today they sent me the script, and it’s a delight: with luck it’ll have kids all over the world making their own little graphic novels, and will usher in the dawn...

Since when ...
… have bookstores been a must-stop on my overseas travels?
I’m a seasoned traveler to Japan because I was born there, I’ve made numerous trips there, and I lived there after college for close to a year. And since I enjoy reading manga, I spend a lot of time in bookstores during my trips there. But, for some reason, I didn’t consider bookstores a tourist destination until...

My kidlit-related plushie collection is growing
I cannot pass a clearance bin without taking a peek, and good thing too; I found Max here for 75% off (at B&N)! I already have a Wild Thing plushie in my library so Max will join him on the shelf. Mind you, I bought Max for myself so when/if I leave my current job Max goes with me.

drawing graphs as maps :: in relation to Harry...
Dr. Yifan Hu has several “maps” graphically depicting the relationship between certain titles sold on amazon.com. The data is derived from the “Customers who bought this item also bought …” feature on the site.
Of particular interest to me is the map showing book purchasing patterns of people who bought _Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone_.

Cute way to record your books … maybe as commenter Peni noted, not the most practical + useful way to do so, but it’s more colorful + visually appealing than a database. And, for some people (including yours truly), it’s a joy to add color and cute design to their lives.
Get yours from Aunt June on etsy ($4).
